Rated capacity is only the starting point
A forklift selection should begin with the load weight, but the load centre, lifting height, mast configuration and attachments can also affect the configuration needed for an application. Give the supplier complete operating information before choosing a model.
Record the actual load
Share the maximum load weight and load dimensions. If the load extends beyond the standard fork length or is handled with a clamp, side shifter or another attachment, describe it clearly.
Confirm the highest lift
Measure the highest point at which the load must be placed or removed. Also record restrictions such as doorways, container openings, racking and ceiling height.
Consider the working area
Aisle width, turning space, floor condition and the number of daily operating hours should be part of the selection process. These factors help determine which equipment type and configuration may suit the application.
Prepare a complete enquiry
Include the load, lift height, working environment, preferred power type, required options and destination. This gives the supplier the information needed to recommend a suitable configuration and quotation.
